The Method of Response Function in Ecology
A new book by WIT Press, presents a new approach to the construction of ecological models based on a generalised version of the response function method. According to the authors, this method allows all essential features of ecosystem processes – such as complexity, unknown mechanisms, multidimensionality, uncertainty, and irreducibility – to be taken into account. The authors apply the method to a variety of environmental problems. A CD-ROM containing demonstration versions of four models discussed is included. Contents include:
-
-
- Fundamentals of the Theory of Response Function Method
- ONTOMOD – the Model of Ontogenesis in Higher Plants using Soybean as an Example
- POLMOD.RAD – the Model of 90Sr Dynamics in Elementary Ecosystems
- POLMOD.PEST – the Model of Pesticides’ Dynamics in Elementary Ecosystems
- UMOD – the Model of Humus Formation in Soils of Natural and Agricultural Ecosystems l Development of Environmental Indices using the Method of Response Function
