For companies that are subject to the Mandatory Reporting Rule (MRR) for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reporting, January through March used to be a period of heightened pressure and activity as they prepare e-GGRT reports for submission by the March 31st deadline.
This year, however, companies have received 60 additional days to prepare and submit their reports. The EPA published a notice (40 CFR Part 98 [EPA–HQ–OAR–2025–0096 FRL-12676-01-OAR]) to move the reporting deadline from March 31, 2025 to May 30, 2025. This deadline is only applicable to the Reporting Year 2024.
In addition to the postponement of the reporting deadline, the EPA also introduced a change to the process for how the reporters log in to their e-GGRT accounts. The new login process involves redirection to Login.gov for existing e-GGRT account holders. Detailed instructions on the new login process can be found at Greenhouse Gas Reporting Help site.
