Formatted reports in EIM— have you tried them yet?

If you haven’t yet tried formatted reports in Locus EIM, here’s what you’re missing:

  • Automation of highly-formatted report types with margins, footnotes, titles, and a wide range of formatting options
  • Easily output simple to complex tables to Excel
  • Multiple data types support
  • Save and share on the EIM dashboard to streamline reporting for all users
  • Create simple or complex cross-tab reports in multiple formats
  • Export to Excel or directly to PDF
  • Export as a single or multi-tabbed output

Just head over to Setup > Output Options > Formatted Report Templates in EIM. You can also find user guides under Support > Documents, or contact Locus help desk or your account manager for advice on how to get started.

EIM DMRs— some real world simplifications

DMRs now can be set to "Draft" or "Final" status. As a draft, printed DMRs will have a 'Draft' watermark on them (if your customer-specific DMR is configured to show it). When made final, the watermark is removed, and the DMR shows the saved signature image for the DMR's 'Signed By' user (if the user has a signature image loaded under Manage Profile and the DMR is set up to display signatures).

If you submit DMRs in a regulatory jurisdiction where our NetDMR functionality isn't supported yet, having the ability to easily manage draft and final DMRs (with signature) can help streamline your DMR completion process.

Contact your Locus account manager for more information on how to set up drafts and signatures for DMRs.

Major recent enhancements to Locus Platform

Locus Platform continues to grow and mature with a range of customer use cases. In the last few months, the following notable applications/features rolled out:

  • Streamlined waste management app
The powerful new waste management application features one-click waste manifests, shipping labels, and other data-driven documents and reports.
  • XML exports for GHG data submittals to EPA and California ARB
The newly developed XML report generation capability allows facilities to upload their greenhouse gas data directly, instead of having to complete the complex web forms in the EPA Electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT) and CARB reporting worksheets (Cal e-GGRT).
  • Completely updated and mobile-enabled drinking water sampling, analysis and data management system
Samplers prep for the day with lab QC and head out on their rounds, collecting about 20 drinking water samples per sampler per day. They sync their mobile data at the end of the day and prepare their lab analysis bench sheets. Each day, about 80 samples are collected, processed, and analyzed, and all results and QC are recorded in Locus Platform. A wide range of dashboards and reports, including regulatory reporting for triggered source water, chlorine disinfectant levels, regulatory action reports, and more are produced from the system. Each of the key forms has embedded workflows to provide an electronic approval process, supporting stringent QC requirements on this important data. This configuration is tailored to microbiology laboratories and has 7 applications and about 25 entities that work together to address daily regulatory sampling and reporting, ad hoc sampling, and operations sampling for a busy water utility.

Ask your Locus account manager how you can take advantage of these powerful new tools in your configuration.

Locus EIM is ready for EPA's UCMR 4 guidelines

Our water utility customers will be glad to know Locus EIM is ready to handle the requirements of EPA's UCMR 4 list of chemicals that must be monitored between 2018 and 2020 by all large systems (and a random selection of smaller providers). Our Locus EIM Water configuration in particular is built with ever-changing regulations in mind, so entering new chemicals and analyses is an easy, streamlined task.

We put together some useful tips to ensure your EIM database is ready when you start collecting this new set of data.

Are you ready for UCMR 4?

By popular demand, GIS+ getting a few new handy features

Our GIS development team has also been working hard to make our Esri-based GIS+ service better than ever! Here are a few of the latest enhancements:

  • 'Wells' results options in location results tables
When you click a location in the map to see the associated records, or when you run a query, additional fields from the well and well perforation zones table are displayed in the results popup window.
  • Improved database spatial queries
GIS+ has always been able to search for analytical, field, or groundwater results near or within selected map layer features (e.g. site boundaries), but now they can be filtered to those near a specified address, selected point on the map, or a polygon sketched on the map.
  • Improved clustering behavior
The cutoff value for clustering (that is, when clustering of locations is triggered) now applies to the total number of visible locations on the map, not just to layers with location counts exceeding that cutoff value. Additionally, there is a new option to use a custom label engine to label single locations from a clustered layer, improving visibility of labels when multiple locations are stacked very closely together.
  • Well report
Create a zip file for selected location(s) that contains CSV files with results related to wells (e.g. construction, components, perforation zones, and associated groundwater levels, analytical results, and field measurements).
  • Shapefile export
Export any grid to Esri Shapefile format.

Ask Locus help desk or your account manager for more information on these features. And if you’re not using GIS+ yet, contact for more information.
