Alstom selects Locus’s web portal for environmental information management

Alstom

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., 7 June 2004 — Locus Technologies (Locus), a leader in environmental information management, today announced that ALSTOM, the maker of France’s famous TGV high-speed trains and gas turbines for power plants, and maker of the 345-metre, 150,000-ton Queen Mary 2–the longest, tallest, widest, and most expensive passenger liner ever built—has selected its web-based environmental portal LocusFocus(SM) to manage Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) information corporate-wide. LocusFocus is an award winning, web-based tool for enterprise environmental information management.

Locus will supply ALSTOM with an expanded version of the portal that will provide document repository and management, reporting for EH&S, due diligence data room functionality, Locus’ popular EIM™ system for analytical data management, and much more. Through LocusFocus, ALSTOM will put in place, and monitor, a global policy covering the management of environmental and health and safety information and risks. The procedures ensuring compliance with EH&S regulations are decentralized and monitored at each plant level. LocusFocus will allow for easy management and aggregation of this decentralized information.

ALSTOM has placed a tremendous emphasis on digitization to transform business processes using technology, especially the Internet. The company will use LocusFocus to manage all aspects of EH&S reporting at environmental sites, giving managers real-time access to environmental data and information, regardless of location.

With the LocusFocus platform, firms such as ALSTOM, can easily streamline the management of their enterprise environmental information to support end-to-end multidisciplinary environmental processes while using only a fraction of the time and resources involved in software integration and development projects. The result is a powerful Internet-based solution that delivers significant advantages over traditional client/server
systems. In the environmental market, no other option is as flexible and comprehensive.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by ALSTOM to provide solutions and support to the complex world of environmental data management. This portal will help ALSTOM’s vast establishment bring organization to EH&S reporting. With presence in more than 70 countries, all ALSTOM EH&S coordinators will have real-time access to important EH&S information. With its global reach, ALSTOM needs a system like LocusFocus,” said Neno Duplancic, President and CEO of Locus.
